# Upul Galappaththi

**Upul Sanjeewa Galappaththi** (born 7 February 1979) is a [Sri Lankan](/source/Sri_Lanka) physician, politician and [Member of Parliament](/source/Member_of_Parliament_(Sri_Lanka)).[1]

Galappaththi was born on 7 February 1979.[1] He was educated at Tissamaharama National School and Debarawewa National School.[2] He has a degree in medicine from the [University of Ruhuna](/source/University_of_Ruhuna).[2] He was the Hambantota District Co-ordinator for the [Government Medical Officers Association](/source/Government_Medical_Officers_Association) and founder of the Hela Bodu Maga.[2]

Galappaththi contested the [2020 parliamentary election](/source/2020_Sri_Lankan_parliamentary_election) as a [Sri Lanka People's Freedom Alliance](/source/Sri_Lanka_People's_Freedom_Alliance) [electoral alliance](/source/Electoral_alliance) candidate in [Hambantota District](/source/Hambantota_Electoral_District) and was elected to the [Parliament of Sri Lanka](/source/Parliament_of_Sri_Lanka).[3][4][5]
