The **United Peasant Party** ([Serbian](/source/Serbian_language): Уједињена сељачка странка, [romanized](/source/Romanization_of_Serbian): *Ujedinjena seljačka stranka*, abbr. **USS**) is an [agrarian](/source/Agrarianism) [political party](/source/List_of_political_parties_in_Serbia) in [Serbia](/source/Serbia).[1] Its primary area of strength is in the municipality of [Svrljig](/source/Svrljig).[1] It is affiliated with the [European People's Party](/source/European_People's_Party) in the [Congress of Local and Regional Authorities](/source/Congress_of_Local_and_Regional_Authorities).[2]

## History

According to the party's website, the United Peasant Party was established in [Belgrade](/source/Belgrade) in 2000 via a merger of three small peasant parties. At the party's founding meeting, [Dragoslav Avramović](/source/Dragoslav_Avramovi%C4%87) agreed to be its honorary president; he died the following year. The USS won representation in the Svrljig municipal assembly in the [2000 local elections](/source/2000_Serbian_local_elections), and local party leader [Milija Miletić](/source/Milija_Mileti%C4%87) became mayor of the municipality in [2008](/source/2008_Serbian_local_elections).[3]

The USS was not formally registered as a political party until 2010; prior to this time, it was designated as a Citizens' Group. Miletić was recognised as the party's leader at the time of its registration and continues to hold this position as of 2025. He is the only member of the USS to have served in the [National Assembly](/source/National_Assembly_of_Serbia), having been first elected in the [2014 Serbian parliamentary election](/source/2014_Serbian_parliamentary_election) on the [electoral list](/source/Electoral_list) of the [Serbian Progressive Party](/source/Serbian_Progressive_Party) and then re-elected on the same party's lists in the [2016](/source/2016_Serbian_parliamentary_election), [2020](/source/2020_Serbian_parliamentary_election), [2022](/source/2022_Serbian_parliamentary_election), and [2023](/source/2023_Serbian_parliamentary_election).
