**Ungut County** ([Persian](/source/Persian_language): شهرستان انگوت)[a] is in [Ardabil](/source/Ardabil_province) province, [Iran](/source/Iran). Its capital is the city of [Angut](/source/Angut%2C_Iran),[3][b] whose population at the time of the 2016 National Census was 2,645 in 717 households.[4]

## History

In 2019, [Ungut District](/source/Central_District_(Ungut_County))[c] was separated from [Germi County](/source/Germi_County)[d] in the establishment of Ungut County and renamed the [Central District](/source/Central_District_(Ungut_County)). The new county was divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with [Angut](/source/Angut%2C_Iran)[b] as its capital and only city at the time.[3]
