The city (''[Stadt](/source/Municipalities_of_Germany)'') of Uhingen is located on the north-west of [the district](/source/G%C3%B6ppingen_(district)) of [Göppingen](/source/G%C3%B6ppingen), in the [German state](/source/States_of_Germany) of [Baden-Württemberg](/source/Baden-W%C3%BCrttemberg). The municipal area lies along the border with the [Rems-Murr district](/source/Rems-Murr-Kreis) to the north. Physically, Uhingen is situated in the lower [Fils](/source/Fils_(river)) river valley, in the {{ill|foothills of the Central Swabia Jura|de|Vorland der mittleren Schwäbischen Alb|lt=foothills of the Central Swabia Jura}}. A portion of the municipal area is in the [Schurwald](/source/Schurwald) region, to the northwest. Elevation above sea level in the municipal area ranges from a low of {{convert|257|m|sp=us}} [Normalnull](/source/Normalnull) (NN) to a high of {{convert|483|m|sp=us}} NN.<ref name=LEO-BW/>

Uhingen's [coat of arms](/source/coat_of_arms) displays a [field](/source/Field_(heraldry)) of [red](/source/Gules) crossed by a [white](/source/Argent), wavy [fess](/source/fess) complemented with a white [canton](/source/Canton_(heraldry)) in the upper left corner of the [blazon](/source/blazon). This pattern, devised by the {{ill|Central State Archive Stuttgart|de|Hauptstaatsarchiv Stuttgart}} in 1912, is the coat of arms of the House of Aichelberg, with the addition of the fess to represent the river Fils.<ref name=LEO-BW/>

==Transportation==
Uhingen is a center of local transportation and an infrastructure nexus. The city is connected to [Germany's network of roadways](/source/Driving_in_Germany) by [Bundesstraße 10](/source/Bundesstra%C3%9Fe_10) and {{Ill|Bundesstraße 297|de}}. It is also connected to Germany's railways by the [Fils Valley Railway](/source/Fils_Valley_Railway), which was run through the municipal area in 1847.
