Example of UXF

In [computing](/source/Computing), **UML eXchange Format** (**UXF**) is a [XML](/source/XML)-based model interchange format for [Unified Modeling Language](/source/Unified_Modeling_Language) (UML), which is a standard software modeling language. UXF is a structured format described in 1998 and intended to encode, publish, access and exchange UML models.[1]

More recent alternatives include [XML Metadata Interchange](/source/XML_Metadata_Interchange)[2] and OMG's Diagram Definition standard.[3]

## Known uses

- [UMLet](/source/UMLet) is an application that uses UXF as its native file format.
