# USS Hart

Two ships of the [United States Navy](/source/United_States_Navy) have borne the name **USS *Hart***. The first *Hart* was named for Midshipman [Ezekiel Hart](/source/Ezekiel_Hart_(naval_officer)), who died in the [War of 1812](/source/War_of_1812), and Lieutenant Commander [John E. Hart](/source/John_E._Hart), who died in the [Civil War](/source/American_Civil_War). The second *Hart* was named for Lieutenant [Patrick H. Hart](/source/Patrick_H._Hart) (1915–1942), who died in the [Battle of Midway](/source/Battle_of_Midway).
