==History==
UFINET is a neutral, carrier of carriers telecom company, meaning it focuses on B2B sales to enterprise customers, Tier 3 ISPs including leases of FTTH optical distribution networks, dark fiber, optical line terminals and optical network terminals, and internet transit for Tier 2 ISPs. It was created by [Unión Fenosa](/source/Uni%C3%B3n_Fenosa) (formerly known as Unión Fenosa Redes de Telecomunicación) in 1998. In 2009, it merged with the company Desarrollo de Cable, which belonged to the company [Gas Natural](/source/Gas_Natural), and this gave rise to Gas Natural Fenosa Telecomunicaciones (GNF Telecom). In 2014, CINVEN,<ref>[http://www.unquote.com/southern-europe/official-record/2348925/cinven-to-acquire-gnft-for-eur510m "Cinven to acquire GNFT for €510m"], Cinven website.</ref> an investment fund of private capital, acquired the GNFT. The acquisition was carried out for a total of 510 million Euros. Since then, the company has traded as UFINET.
