**UAAP Season 87** was the 2024–25 season of the [University Athletic Association of the Philippines](/source/University_Athletic_Association_of_the_Philippines) (UAAP). It was hosted by the [University of the Philippines Diliman](/source/University_of_the_Philippines_Diliman) (UP) under the theme "Stronger, Better, Together". The opening ceremony was held on September 7, 2024.[1][2][3]

Starting this season, a change was introduced regarding the transfer of student athletes from one school to another. Transferees will still be required to sit out for one year before playing for their new school but their five years of eligibility will have to be reduced by two instead of one year.[4][5]

This is also the first season where guest teams are invited, with [Claret School of Quezon City](/source/Claret_School_of_Quezon_City) and [PAREF Southridge School](/source/Parents_for_Education_Foundation) signing a Memorandum of Agreement with UAAP to join in the High School Boys' Division which will start on January 18, 2025.[6]

The season also marked the most televised sports in the league's history with basketball (all divisions), volleyball (all divisions), football (all divisions), baseball (all games), softball (finals), cheerdance, esports, badminton (finals), lawn tennis (finals), 3x3 basketball (all divisions), beach volleyball (finals), fencing (all divisions), and streetdance receiving live broadcasts via broadcasting partner [Cignal TV](/source/Cignal_TV).

## Sports calendar

[Esports](/source/Esports) made its UAAP debut as a special exhibition event featuring three titles,[7][8][9] while [Rapid and Blitz Chess](/source/Fast_chess) was introduced as a demonstration sport.[10] On the other hand, the football tournaments were transferred to the first semester for the first time.[11][12]
