The '''Tyry''' ({{langx|ru|Тыры}}; {{langx|sah|Тырыы}}, ''Tırıı'') is a river in the Sakha Republic ([Yakutia](/source/Yakutia)), [Russia](/source/Russia), a right tributary of the [Aldan](/source/Aldan_(river)), part of the [Lena](/source/Lena_(river)) basin. It has a length of {{convert|327|km|mi}}, a [drainage basin](/source/drainage_basin) area of {{convert|14000|km2|mi2}} and is the 8th longest tributary of the Aldan.<ref name=gvr>{{GVR|248397|Река Тыры}}</ref>

Formerly there were mining settlements in the river valley, operating the coal and other deposits of the river basin, such as [Nezhdaninskoye](/source/Nezhdaninskoye).<ref>[https://web.archive.org/web/20070928184330/http://www.poisk-yakutia.ru/show.php?id=9934 Место встречи: Статьи - Наша Нежданка]</ref> Nowadays the nearest permanently inhabited place in the area of the Tyry is [Khandyga](/source/Khandyga) of [Tompo District](/source/Tompo_District) to the north of the river's mouth.<ref name="GЕ">[Google Earth](/source/Google_Earth)</ref> The Tyry is a known destination for [rafting](/source/rafting) and [kayaking](/source/kayaking), as well as fishing.<ref name=WR/>

==Course==
The Tyry has its sources in the southern slopes of the [Suntar-Khayata Range](/source/Suntar-Khayata_Range).<ref name=ONC/><ref name=YKT/> In the upper section of its course the river flows through a narrow valley across mountainous terrain, heading roughly southwestwards and cutting across the [Skalisty Range](/source/Skalisty_Range) and the [Sette Daban](/source/Sette_Daban), where its valley widens and the river divides into branches. The river turns then to the WNW and cuts across the northern section of the [Ulakhan-Bom](/source/Ulakhan-Bom). After the Tyry exits the mountain area it enters a wide [floodplain](/source/floodplain), dividing into many channels and making a wide bend to the southwest. Finally if meets the right bank of the [Aldan River](/source/Aldan_River), upstream from the mouth of the [Eastern Khandyga](/source/Eastern_Khandyga), {{convert|492|km|abbr=on}} from the confluence of the Aldan with the [Lena River](/source/Lena_River).<ref>{{cite web|url=https://maps.vlasenko.net/smtm1000/p-53_54.jpg|title=P-53_54 Chart (in Russian)|access-date=9 September 2021}}</ref><ref name=ONC>[https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Operational_Navigation_Chart_D-8,_4th_edition.jpg 1,000,000 scale Operational Navigation Chart; Sheet D-8]</ref><ref name=WR>[https://water-rf.ru/%D0%92%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%BD%D1%8B%D0%B5_%D0%BE%D0%B1%D1%8A%D0%B5%D0%BA%D1%82%D1%8B/1854/%D0%A2%D1%8B%D1%80%D1%8B Tyry - Water of Russia]</ref><ref name=YKT/>
