Pill was drafted by the [Colorado Rockies](/source/Colorado_Rockies) in the 38th round of the [2008 MLB June Amateur Draft](/source/2008_Major_League_Baseball_draft) from [Covina High School](/source/Covina_High_School) in [Covina, California](/source/Covina%2C_California), and the [New York Mets](/source/New_York_Mets) in the 4th round of the [2011 MLB June Amateur Draft](/source/2011_Major_League_Baseball_draft) from [California State University, Fullerton](/source/California_State_University%2C_Fullerton) in [Fullerton, California](/source/Fullerton%2C_California).

===Los Angeles Dodgers===
On April 21, 2018, Pill was traded to the [Los Angeles Dodgers](/source/Los_Angeles_Dodgers) in exchange for cash considerations.
