# Tur (river)

The **Tur** (Hungarian: *Túr*) is a [tributary](/source/Tributary) of the river [Tisza](/source/Tisza). Its sources are located in the [Oaș Mountains](/source/Oa%C8%99_Mountains) in [Romania](/source/Romania). The Tur starts at the confluence of its [headwaters](/source/Headwater), the *Gorova* and *Turișor*.[2] It then flows through [Satu Mare County](/source/Satu_Mare_County) in Romania. The main town on the Tur is [Negrești-Oaș](/source/Negre%C8%99ti-Oa%C8%99). The river then forms the border between Romania and [Ukraine](/source/Ukraine) on a reach of 5.2 km (3.2 mi), and the border between Romania and [Hungary](/source/Hungary) for 1.1 km (0.68 mi). The Tur joins the Tisza river near [Szatmárcseke](/source/Szatm%C3%A1rcseke) in Hungary. Its [basin size](/source/Drainage_basin) is 1,144 km2 (442 sq mi).[3]: 22
