**Tuen Mun Football Club** ([Chinese](/source/Traditional_Chinese_characters): 屯門足球會) is a [Hong Kong](/source/Hong_Kong) [football club](/source/Association_football) which currently competes in the [Hong Kong Third Division](/source/Hong_Kong_Third_Division_League).

## History

Founded in 2001, the team had been representing [Tuen Mun District](/source/Tuen_Mun_District) to compete in the [Hong Kong Third 'District' Division League](/source/Hong_Kong_Third_Division_League), having won the [Hong Kong Third 'District' Division League](/source/Hong_Kong_Third_Division_League) in the [2004–05](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2004%E2%80%9305_Third_Division_League&action=edit&redlink=1) season. However, they became independent from the [Tuen Mun District](/source/Tuen_Mun_District) and joined the [Hong Kong Third 'A' Division League](/source/Hong_Kong_Third_Division_League).

In the [2006–07](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2006%E2%80%9307_Hong_Kong_Third_Division_League&action=edit&redlink=1) season, they became the champions of the [Hong Kong Third 'A' Division League](/source/Hong_Kong_Third_Division_League), but eventually lost in the [Hong Kong Third Division League final round](/source/Hong_Kong_Third_Division_League_final_round) and failed to gain promotion.[1]

In the [2011–12](/source/2011%E2%80%9312_Hong_Kong_Third_Division_League) season, they became the runner-up of the [Hong Kong Third 'A' Division League](/source/Hong_Kong_Third_Division_League).[2] Then in the [Hong Kong Third Division League final round](/source/Hong_Kong_Third_Division_League_final_round), they successfully gained promotion to the [Hong Kong Second Division League](/source/Hong_Kong_Second_Division_League) next season.[3]

In the [2016–17](/source/2016-17_Hong_Kong_Second_Division_League) season, TMFC finished bottom of the league and were relegated back to the Third Division, having lost 15 games and only winning 2 out of the 22 games in the season.

In the [2017–18](/source/2017%E2%80%9318_Hong_Kong_Third_Division_League) season, TMFC finished second bottom in the Third Division and were eliminated from the [Hong Kong football league system](/source/Football_in_Hong_Kong).[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]
