**Tshabong**, also spelled **Tsabong**, is the administrative centre of the [Kgalagadi District](/source/Kgalagadi_District) in [Botswana](/source/Botswana). It is located in the [Kalahari Desert](/source/Kalahari_Desert). The population was 8939 in the 2011 [census](/source/Census).[1]

The primary hospital in Tshabong serves a huge outlying area and includes several [tuberculosis](/source/Tuberculosis) refuges where patients and their families can stay while undergoing lengthy outpatient treatment.

Near the town is the Tshabong [kimberlite](/source/Kimberlite) field, one of the largest [diamondiferous](/source/Diamondiferous) kimberlite fields in the world.

The [Botswana Prison Service](/source/Botswana_Prison_Service) (BPS) operates the Tsabong Prison.[3]

In September 2023, Botswana's first [carbon credit](/source/Carbon_credit) program, led by the startup Gazelle Ecosolutions, began in and around Tsabong.[4][5]

The [solar eclipse of November 25, 2030](/source/Solar_eclipse_of_November_25%2C_2030) will be visible in Tsabong.[6]
