Shared by [Huddinge Municipality](/source/Huddinge_Municipality) and [Haninge Municipality](/source/Haninge_Municipality), it forms part of the [Tyresån Lake System](/source/Tyres%C3%A5n_Lake_System).

With its catchment area characterized by [morass](/source/marsh) and pine covered rock faces, Trylen is a popular spot for walking and bathing. Motorboats are not permitted on the lake. Fishing permits do not apply in the lake.<ref name="huddinge" />

== Flora and fauna ==
An inventory in 1998 documented [common reed](/source/Phragmites), [water horsetail](/source/water_horsetail), ''[Menyanthes](/source/Menyanthes)'', [yellow water-lily](/source/Nuphar_lutea), [white water-lily](/source/Nymphaea_alba), [floating-leaf pondweed](/source/Potamogeton_natans), and [flatleaf bladderwort](/source/Utricularia_intermedia). Additionally, there are [red algae](/source/red_algae) and [moss](/source/moss)es such as ''[Fontinalis dalecarlica](/source/Fontinalis_dalecarlica)''<!---(Smal näckmossa)--->.<ref name="huddinge" />

Birds by the lake includes [mallard](/source/mallard) and [common goldeneye](/source/common_goldeneye).
