==Life and career==
Troy Onyango was born and grew up in [Kisumu](/source/Kisumu), an inland port city along the shores of [Lake Victoria](/source/Lake_Victoria) in Western [Kenya](/source/Kenya). He attended the [University of Nairobi](/source/University_of_Nairobi), where he studied law. He obtained an MA in creative writing from the [University of East Anglia](/source/University_of_East_Anglia) where he was a recipient of the [Miles Morland Foundation Writing Scholarship](/source/Miles_Morland_Foundation_Writing_Scholarship).
