Males grow to {{convert|104|mm|in|1|abbr=on}} and females to {{convert|85|mm|in|1|abbr=on}} in [snout–vent length](/source/snout%E2%80%93vent_length) (SVL). The tail is 1.2–1.8 times SVL.<ref name="Avila-Pires 1995"/> It is [oviparous](/source/oviparous).<ref name=RDB/> It has a reproductive period aligning with the rainy season in the biomes of [Cerrado](/source/Cerrado) and [Caatinga](/source/Caatinga), it can also be found in urban environments. Examples being [Belo Horizonte](/source/Belo_Horizonte), [Rio de Janeiro](/source/Rio_de_Janeiro) and others. The juveniles are slimmer meanwhile the adults are more robust, they have a detachable tail to distract predators.
