**Tropea** (Italian: [\[troˈpɛːa\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/Italian); [Calabrian](/source/Central-Southern_Calabrian): *Trupìa*; [Latin](/source/Latin_language): *Tropaea*; [Ancient Greek](/source/Ancient_Greek_language): Τράπεια, [romanized](/source/Romanization_of_Ancient_Greek): *Trápeia*) is a resort town in the [province of Vibo Valentia](/source/Province_of_Vibo_Valentia), in the Italian region of Calabria. It is one of [I Borghi più belli d'Italia](/source/I_Borghi_pi%C3%B9_belli_d'Italia) ("The most beautiful villages of Italy").[3] It has 5,661 inhabitants.[2]

Tropea is a popular seaside destination with sandy beaches, located on the [Gulf of Saint Euphemia](/source/Gulf_of_Saint_Euphemia), part of the [Tyrrhenian Sea](/source/Tyrrhenian_Sea), on Italy's west coast and was named "Most beautiful village in Italy" for 2021.[4]
