**Trialeti Range** ([Georgian](/source/Georgian_language): თრიალეთის ქედი) is an east-west mountain range of the [Lesser Caucasus Mountains](/source/Lesser_Caucasus) in the [Samtskhe–Javakheti](/source/Samtskhe%E2%80%93Javakheti) region of southern [Georgia](/source/Georgia_(country)).[1]

The eastern edge of the Range runs along the western border of [Tbilisi](/source/Tbilisi), while the western edge lies along River [Mtkvari](/source/Kura_(Caspian_Sea)) to the southwest of [Borjomi](/source/Borjomi). The length of the Trialeti Range is 144 kilometers and the maximum width is 30 kilometers. The mountain range was built up by volcanic activity during the [Paleogene](/source/Paleogene) period. Young, [andesite](/source/Andesite) [lava flows](/source/Lava_flows) are common in the western part of the Range. The highest point is Mount Shaviklde (meaning "black cliff" in [Georgian](/source/Georgian_language)) at an elevation of 2,850 meters above sea level (9,348 ft.). The slopes of the Range are mainly covered by [deciduous](/source/Deciduous) forests made up of [oak](/source/Oak), [beech](/source/Beech), and [hornbeam](/source/Hornbeam). The western parts of Trialeti are covered by [coniferous](/source/Coniferous) and mixed forests made up of [fir](/source/Fir), [spruce](/source/Spruce), [pine](/source/Pine), [beech](/source/Beech), and [oak](/source/Oak).[2]
