# Travis Sykora

**Travis Alvin Sykora** (born April 28, 2004) is an American professional [baseball](/source/Baseball) [pitcher](/source/Pitcher) in the [Washington Nationals](/source/Washington_Nationals) organization.

## Career

Sykora attended [Round Rock High School](/source/Round_Rock_High_School) in [Round Rock, Texas](/source/Round_Rock,_Texas). He was selected by the [Washington Nationals](/source/Washington_Nationals) in the third round of the [2023 Major League Baseball draft](/source/2023_Major_League_Baseball_draft).[1]

Sykora signed with the Nationals rather than play college baseball at the [University of Texas at Austin](/source/University_of_Texas_at_Austin).[2][3] He made his professional debut in 2024 with the [Fredericksburg Nationals](/source/Fredericksburg_Nationals).[4][5]

Sykora started the 2025 season on the injured list after offseason hip surgery.[6][7] He made two starts each for the rookie-level [Florida Complex League Nationals](/source/Florida_Complex_League_Nationals) and Single-A Fredericksburg before being promoted to the High-A [Wilmington Blue Rocks](/source/Wilmington_Blue_Rocks).[8][9] In June, Sykora was promoted again to the Double-A [Harrisburg Senators](/source/Harrisburg_Senators).[10][11] On July 28, it was announced that Sykora would miss the remainder of the year and likely all of the 2026 season after undergoing [Tommy John surgery](/source/Ulnar_collateral_ligament_reconstruction).[12]
