'''''Transmotion''''' is a biannual [peer-reviewed](/source/peer-reviewed) [academic journal](/source/academic_journal) covering [Native American literature](/source/Native_American_literature)s and Indigenous culture more broadly. It is hosted by the [University of Kent](/source/University_of_Kent), UK, and results from a collaboration between [California State University, San Bernardino](/source/California_State_University%2C_San_Bernardino), the [University of Kent](/source/University_of_Kent), [European University Cyprus](/source/European_University_Cyprus) and the [Portland State University](/source/Portland_State_University). The journal is fully [diamond open access](/source/open_access); current and past issues are free to view, and it publishes under a [Creative commons license](/source/Creative_commons_license).

Transmotion publishes new scholarship focused on "theoretical, experimental, [postmodern](/source/postmodern), and [avant-garde](/source/avant-garde) writing produced by [Native American](/source/Native_Americans_in_the_United_States) and [First Nations](/source/First_Nations_in_Canada) authors," as well as wider issues within Indigenous Studies considered broadly. It also contains book reviews on relevant work. The name comes from the work of [Gerald Vizenor](/source/Gerald_Vizenor), in which "transmotion" is theorized as "a visionary resistance and sense of natural motion over separatism, literary denouement, and cultural victimry."<ref>{{Cite journal|title=View of The Unmissable: Transmotion in Native Stories and Literature {{!}} Transmotion|url=https://journals.kent.ac.uk/index.php/transmotion/article/view/143/604|access-date=2021-08-25|journal=Transmotion|date=2015 |doi=10.22024/UniKent/03/tm.143 |last1=Vizenor |first1=Gerald |volume=1 |issue=1 |pages=63 }}</ref> It is closely related to Vizenor's concept of [survivance](/source/survivance).
