'''Transcaribe''' is a [bus rapid transit](/source/bus_rapid_transit) (BRT) system which operates in the city of [Cartagena, Colombia](/source/Cartagena%2C_Colombia), and was inaugurated in March 2016.<ref name="itdp">{{cite web |title=How BRT TransCaribe Improved Transport in Cartagena, Colombia |url=https://www.itdp.org/2017/09/06/brt-transcaribe-improved-transport-cartagena/ |publisher=[Institute for Transportation and Development Policy](/source/Institute_for_Transportation_and_Development_Policy) |date=September 6, 2017}}</ref> It consists of 16 stations, and centers around a dedicated {{convert|10.5|km}} [bus lane](/source/bus_lane) along Avenida Pedro de Heredia from the El Portal terminal to the city's old town.<ref name="itdp" /> For the first two months after it opened, (November and December 2015), the system was free to encourage ridership. Transcaribe's 150-passenger [articulated bus](/source/articulated_bus)es are powered by [compressed natural gas](/source/compressed_natural_gas).<ref name="itdp" /> Unlike Colombia's older BRT systems in [Bogotá](/source/Bogot%C3%A1) ([Transmileno](/source/TransMilenio)) and [Pereira](/source/Pereira%2C_Colombia), Transcaribe was designed to offer hybrid service (''pretroncal'') on bus lanes and city streets; this eliminated the need to change buses on routes to [Crespo](/source/Pereira%2C_Colombia), [Bocagrande](/source/Bocagrande), and Cartagena's southeastern suburbs.<ref name="itdp" />
