**Tracklib** (short for **Trackliberation**)[1] is a Swedish music service that allows producers to [sample](/source/Sampling_(music)) original music and clear the samples for official use. The platform was founded with the aim to solve [legal and ethical issues](/source/Sampling_(music)#Legal_and_ethical_issues) surrounding sampling and music clearances. The platform has been previously used to sample and clear tracks for commercial releases by [J. Cole](/source/J._Cole), [Lil Wayne](/source/Lil_Wayne), [DJ Khaled](/source/DJ_Khaled), [Mary J Blige](/source/Mary_J._Blige), [Brockhampton](/source/Brockhampton_(band)), [A-Reece](/source/A-Reece) among others.[2][3][4]

## History

Tracklib is based in [Stockholm](/source/Stockholm), Sweden, and was originally founded in 2014. After an invite-only [beta version](/source/Software_release_life_cycle) in 2017, the music service officially launched to the public in April 2018. In May 2020, Tracklib changed their service to a [subscription model](/source/Subscription_business_model).[5][6][7]

On 20 May 2025, Tracklib released a mobile app for their service.[8]

## Services

The catalog of Tracklib consists of original master recordings and [stems](/source/Stem_(audio)). Each track is part of one out of three tiers (Category A, B, or C) which each its purchase and clearance costs. Users can browse and hear all music before downloading it in [WAV](/source/WAV)-format to use in a [digital audio workstation](/source/Digital_audio_workstation) (DAW) such as [Ableton](/source/Ableton), [Reason](/source/Reason_(software)), or [FL Studio](/source/FL_Studio). In 2019, Tracklib developed and launched a technology for users to select and preview [loops](/source/Loop_(music)).[9][10] Tracklib functions as an intermediary between [record labels](/source/Record_label), [publishers](/source/Music_publisher), [copyright owners](/source/Copyright), and [artists](/source/Artist). This allows users to clear all music and purchase a [license](/source/Music_licensing) for official usage of the selected recording(s). The difference with other music services such as [Splice](/source/Splice_(platform)) and [Loopmasters](/source/Loopmasters), is that Tracklib only includes original master recordings and [stems](/source/Stem_(audio)). All music is previously released and no royalty-free [sounds](/source/Sound) or sample packs are available on Tracklib.[11][12][13]

The catalog also includes previously unreleased recordings by [Isaac Hayes](/source/Isaac_Hayes).[14][15][16][17]

Tracklib's [advisory board](/source/Advisory_board) consists of producers [Prince Paul](/source/Prince_Paul_(producer)), [Erick Sermon](/source/Erick_Sermon), and [Drumma Boy](/source/Drumma_Boy), later joined by [producer](/source/Record_producer) [Zaytoven](/source/Zaytoven) in 2018 and [Scott Storch](/source/Scott_Storch) in 2020. Former [Spotify](/source/Spotify) executives Petra Hansson and Niklas Ivarsson joined the [advisory board](/source/Advisory_board) in 2019.[22][23]
