## Sponsorship

Toyo has sponsored off-road [Trophy Truck](/source/Trophy_Truck) drivers including [Robby Gordon](/source/Robby_Gordon), [Kyle LeDuc](/source/Kyle_LeDuc), BJ Baldwin, [Tavo Vildósola](/source/Tavo_Vild%C3%B3sola), [Gus Vildósola](/source/Gus_Vild%C3%B3sola), Andy McMillin and Bryce Menzies. As well as rally and stunt driver [Ken Block](/source/Ken_Block).[4]

Meanwhile, Nitto has sponsored the [King of the Hammers](/source/King_of_the_Hammers) rock crawling race, and drifting drivers [Vaughn Gittin Jr.](/source/Vaughn_Gittin_Jr.) (since 2013), [Chelsea DeNofa](/source/Chelsea_DeNofa) (2017-2024), [Ryan Tuerck](/source/Ryan_Tuerck) (2019-2024), [Fredric Aasbø](/source/Fredric_Aasb%C3%B8) (2020-2024), and Adam LZ (2021-2024).[5]

In [1988](/source/1988_Australian_Touring_Car_season), Toyo began an exclusive sponsorship deal with legendary Australian [rally](/source/Rallying) and [touring car](/source/Touring_car_racing) driver [Colin Bond](/source/Colin_Bond) who was running a [Ford Sierra RS500](/source/Ford_Sierra_RS500) in the [Australian Touring Car Championship](/source/Australian_Touring_Car_Championship). Using largely experimental tyres as at the time Toyo were relatively new to making [Racing slick](/source/Racing_slick) tyres compared to their opposition (in Australian touring car racing the other tyre manufacturers of the time were [Dunlop](/source/Dunlop_Rubber), [Bridgestone](/source/Bridgestone), [Yokohama](/source/Yokohama_Rubber_Company), [Pirelli](/source/Pirelli) and [Avon](/source/Avon_Technologies)), Bond would finish 3rd in the championship in [1988](/source/1988_Australian_Touring_Car_Championship) as well as winning the [Amaroo Park](/source/Amaroo_Park_Raceway) based [AMSCAR](/source/AMSCAR) series. He then teamed with [1980](/source/1980_Formula_One_season) [Formula One](/source/Formula_One) World Drivers' Champion and former [Network Alfa](/source/Colin_Bond_Racing) team mate [Alan Jones](/source/Alan_Jones_(racing_driver)) to finish 3rd in the [1988 Tooheys 1000](/source/1988_Tooheys_1000) at [Bathurst](/source/Mount_Panorama_Circuit) before finishing 2nd outright in the [Asia-Pacific Touring Car Championship](/source/Asia-Pacific_Touring_Car_Championship). After a lean year in [1989](/source/1989_Australian_Touring_Car_season), Bond and the Toyo's returned to prominence in the [1990 Australian Touring Car Championship](/source/1990_Australian_Touring_Car_Championship), winning the [Lakeside](/source/Lakeside_International_Raceway) and [Mallala](/source/Mallala_Motorsport_Park) rounds of the 8 round series to eventually finish the title in 4th place. Bond continued to run Toyo tyres on his teams cars (the Sierra's were followed in [1993](/source/1993_Australian_Touring_Car_season) by [Toyota Corolla Seca AE93](/source/Toyota_Corolla_(E100))'s) until shutting his team down at the end of 1993. Bond and team mate John Smith had placed 3rd and 2nd respectively in the Corolla's in the [1993](/source/1993_Australian_2.0_Litre_Touring_Car_Championship) [Australian 2.0 Litre Championship](/source/Australian_Super_Touring_Championship).[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]
