**Touwsranten** is a small town in the [Western Cape](/source/Western_Cape) in [South Africa](/source/South_Africa). The village lies near the banks of the [Touws River](/source/Touws_River_(river)) and gets its name from there, with Touwsranten meaning "*Touws edge*" in [Dutch](/source/Dutch_language).

In the [2011 South African census](/source/2011_South_African_census) the town had a population of 415 people living in 129 households.[1]
