'''Torna''' ([Slovak](/source/Slovak_language): ''Turňa'', [Latin](/source/Latin) and [Hungarian](/source/Hungarian_language): ''Torna'', {{langx|de|link=no|Tornau}}) is the name of a historic administrative county ([comitatus](/source/Comitatus_(Kingdom_of_Hungary))) of the [Kingdom of Hungary](/source/Kingdom_of_Hungary).<ref name="w166">{{cite book | last1=Prokopovych | first1=Markian | last2=Bethke | first2=Carl | last3=Scheer | first3=Tamara | title=Language Diversity in the Late Habsburg Empire | publisher=BRILL | date=2019-08-01 | isbn=978-90-04-40797-8 | doi=10.1163/9789004407978_010 | url=https://brill.com/view/title/55144 | access-date=2026-02-09 | page=160}}</ref> It was located in present-day southeastern [Slovakia](/source/Slovakia) and northern [Hungary](/source/Hungary); today Turňa is only an informal designation of the corresponding territory in Slovakia. It was primarily a large estate consisting of royal forest lands.<ref name="q862">{{cite journal | last=Galambosi | first=Péter | title=The Town of Gölnicbánya in the Árpád Era | journal=The Hungarian Historical Review | publisher=Institute of History, Research Centre for the Humanities, Hungarian Academy of Sciences | volume=11 | issue=3 | year=2022 | issn=20638647 | jstor=27297227 | pages=545–569 | url=https://www.jstor.org/stable/27297227 | access-date=2026-02-09}}</ref>

The initially large county was one of the original counties in the Kingdom of Hungary, but was gradually reduced to a territory corresponding to a small territory around the [Turňa River](/source/Tur%C5%88a_River) ({{langx|hu|Torna-patak}}). The capital of the county was [Turňa Castle](/source/Tur%C5%88a_Castle) ({{langx|hu|Tornai vár}}), later the town of [Turňa nad Bodvou](/source/Tur%C5%88a_nad_Bodvou) ({{langx|hu|Torna}}).<ref name="o016">{{cite web | title=Torna vármegye és társadalma 18-19. századi források tükrében (Bódvaszilas-Miskolc, 2002) | website=Hungaricana | url=https://library.hungaricana.hu/hu/view/MEGY_BAZE_Sk_2002_Torna/?pg=0&layout=s | language=hu | access-date=2026-02-09}}</ref>

From 1785 to 1790, 1848–1859, and ultimately in 1882 it was merged with the county [Abov](/source/Abov) to form the county [Abaúj-Torna](/source/Aba%C3%BAj-Torna) (''Abov-Turňa'').
