# Too Much Sleep

***Too Much Sleep*** is the second album by the [experimental](/source/Experimental_rock) [college rock](/source/College_rock)/[art rock](/source/Art_rock) band [Bongwater](/source/Bongwater_(band)). It was released in 1989. In 1998, the album was [remastered](/source/Remaster) by Alan Douches and [Kramer](/source/Kramer_(musician)) for its inclusion in *[Box of Bongwater](/source/Box_of_Bongwater)* set.[1]

Most of the songs are written by [Mark Kramer](/source/Mark_Kramer) and [Ann Magnuson](/source/Ann_Magnuson) with some exceptions. "Talent Is a Vampire," "The Bad Review," and "Ill Fated Lovers Go Time Tripping" were written by Kramer, Magnuson, and [Dave Rick](/source/Dave_Rick). The title track was written strictly by Kramer, while "One So Black" was written by former [King Missile](/source/King_Missile) member [Dogbowl](/source/Dogbowl). Notable cover tunes include "The Drum" written by [Peter Blegvad](/source/Peter_Blegvad) and [Anthony Moore](/source/Anthony_Moore), "Why Are We Sleeping?" by [Kevin Ayers](/source/Kevin_Ayers), and "Splash 1" by the [13th Floor Elevators](/source/13th_Floor_Elevators), one of two [Roky Erickson](/source/Roky_Erickson) covers with which Bongwater made themselves famous.

Bongwater's usual drummer [David Licht](/source/David_Licht) did not appear on the album, which used a drum machine.[2]

[Music videos](/source/Music_video) were created for the songs "The Drum", "Why Are We Sleeping" and "Psychedelic Sewing Room", all directed by Brad Dunning.

[Electric Six](/source/Electric_Six) covered "The Living End". Their version was released as B-side on the single [Gay Bar](/source/Gay_Bar_(song)).[4]
