## Biography

Rallo has written a number of songs for other artists,[3] such as [Dalida](/source/Dalida), [Catherine Ferry](/source/Catherine_Ferry_(singer)), Caroline Verdi, [Francis Lalanne](/source/Francis_Lalanne), [Daniel Guichard](/source/Daniel_Guichard),[4] [Johnny Hallyday](/source/Johnny_Hallyday), and [Charles Aznavour](/source/Charles_Aznavour).

He was the orchestra leader for a number of arrangements for Aznavour and Dalida on the [Barclay](/source/Barclay_Records) label.[5][6][4][7] He was also conductor for the [French](/source/France_in_the_Eurovision_Song_Contest_1976) [Eurovision Song Contest](/source/Eurovision_Song_Contest) entry in [1976](/source/1976_Eurovision_Song_Contest), [Catherine Ferry](/source/Catherine_Ferry_(singer))'s song "Un, Deux, Trois".[8]

As a performer, Rallo scored a top 40 hit in the [UK singles chart](/source/UK_singles_chart), with the [double a-side](/source/Double_a-side) single "Holdin' On"/"Burnin' Alive" reaching number 34 in March 1980.[9] The song was credited to **Tony Rallo and the Midnite Band**, the band being made up of session musicians, including backing vocalists [John and Arthur Simms](/source/John_and_Arthur_Simms) (as The Midnite Voices),[10] drummer [Peter Van Hooke](/source/Peter_Van_Hooke), bassist [Mo Foster](/source/Mo_Foster), guitarists [Rick Hitchcock](/source/Rick_Hitchcock) and [Hugh Burns](/source/Hugh_Burns_(musician)), keyboardist [John Mealing](/source/John_Mealing), percussionist [Frank Ricotti](/source/Frank_Ricotti), synthesizer programmist [Georges Rodi](/source/Georges_Rodi), the Pat Halling String Ensemble, and brass section [Michael Brecker](/source/Michael_Brecker), [Randy Brecker](/source/Randy_Brecker), [George Young](/source/George_Young_(saxophonist)), and [Jon Faddis](/source/Jon_Faddis).[11] Most of the Midnite Band were regular collaborators with producer [Alec R. Costandinos](/source/Alec_R._Costandinos), and had appeared on the [Love & Kisses](/source/Love_%26_Kisses) album *[You Must Be Love](/source/You_Must_Be_Love)*.
