# Tony Gingras

**Antoine Blanc Gingras** (October 20, 1875 – April 27, 1937) was a top scoring Canadian amateur [ice hockey](/source/Ice_hockey) right winger who was active in the late 1890s and early 1900s. Born at [Saint Boniface, Winnipeg](/source/Saint_Boniface,_Winnipeg), to [Métis](/source/M%C3%A9tis) parents François Gingras and Annie McMurray, he was named for his grandfather, [Antoine Blanc Gingras](/source/Antoine_Blanc_Gingras), a well-known fur trader and one of the founders of St. Joseph (now [Walhalla](/source/Walhalla,_North_Dakota)), [North Dakota](/source/North_Dakota).[1][2]

Gingras played with the [Winnipeg Victorias](/source/Winnipeg_Victorias) of the [Manitoba Hockey Association](/source/Manitoba_Hockey_Association) and won the [Stanley Cup](/source/Stanley_Cup) twice with the team, in 1901 against the Montreal Shamrocks [3] and in 1902 against the Toronto Wellingtons.[4] On the Victorias team Gingras formed a successful partnership with center forward [Dan Bain](/source/Dan_Bain).

Gingras died in [Winnipeg](/source/Winnipeg) in 1937.[5]
