# Tony Cosmo

**Tony Cosmo** (born c.1940) is an actor and rock musician famous for his role in [Reservoir Dogs](/source/Reservoir_Dogs), and for appearing in the first live action adaptation of [Percy French](/source/Percy_French)'s poem [Abdul Abulbul Amir](/source/Abdul_Abulbul_Amir).[1]

## Career

Cosmo's career began in the 1960s, when he fronted a [rock and roll](/source/Rock_and_roll) band signed with an American label called Fling Records.[2] The group recorded two singles: Wise To You, and Ponytail Annie.[3] Other original compositions included Teenager For President, Give Me Some, The Big Party, and Tiny Hands.[4]

During the 1980s, Cosmo was based in the UK and starred in a series of musical commercials for [Whitbread Best Bitter Beer](/source/Whitbread_Best_Bitter_Beer) alongside [Roy Castle](/source/Roy_Castle) and [Blackadder](/source/Blackadder) star [Tim McInnerny](/source/Tim_McInnerny).[5] Cosmo played the [Russo-Turkish War](/source/Russo-Turkish_War) era [Mameluke](/source/Mameluke) [Abdul Abulbul Amir](/source/Abdul_Abulbul_Amir) who was constantly outwitting the [foppish](/source/Fop) Russian Count portrayed by legendary comedian [Stephen Fry](/source/Stephen_Fry). The latter described Cosmo as a "menacing, swarthy character" in his autobiography.[6]

In 1992, Cosmo was cast as a sheriff in [Quentin Tarantino](/source/Quentin_Tarantino)'s cult film[7] [Reservoir Dogs](/source/Reservoir_Dogs).[8]
