**Toni Datković** (Croatian pronunciation: [\[tôni dâtkoʋitɕ, tôː-\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/Serbo-Croatian);[1][2] born 6 November 1993) is a Croatian professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays either as a [centre-back](/source/Defender_(association_football)#Centre-back) or [left-back](/source/Defender_(association_football)#Full-back) for [Singapore Premier League](/source/Singapore_Premier_League) club [Lion City Sailors](/source/Lion_City_Sailors_FC) and the [Croatia national team](/source/Croatia_national_football_team).[3]

## Club career

### Youth

Coming from the island of [Pag](/source/Pag_(island)), Datković went through the ranks of [Novalja](/source/NK_Novalja), before moving to [Rijeka](/source/Rijeka), where, after six months at the lower-tier side Lokomotiva, he joined the [Rijeka](/source/HNK_Rijeka) academy. Raising through the ranks, he became the U19 team's captain.[4]

### HNK Rijeka

Datković never made his [Prva HNL](/source/Prva_HNL) debut for HNK Rijeka, however, as he was sent on a loan to the [Druga HNL](/source/Druga_HNL) side [NK Pomorac Kostrena](/source/NK_Pomorac_Kostrena), where he remained for 2 years,[5] until his contract expired.

### NK Zavrč

In the summer of 2014, Datković joined the [Slovenian PrvaLiga](/source/Slovenian_PrvaLiga) side [NK Zavrč](/source/NK_Zavr%C4%8D), where he played 52 league games and scored three goals.

### FC Koper

On 20 January 2016, Datković joined another Slovenian club, [Koper](/source/FC_Koper).[6]

### NK Lokomotiva Zagreb

On 11 July 2017, Datković returned home to joined [Lokomotiva Zagreb](/source/Lokomotiva_Zagreb).

#### Loan to SD Huesca

Datković moved abroad on 2 September 2019, joining [Segunda División](/source/Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n) side, [SD Huesca](/source/SD_Huesca) on a one-year loan deal.[7] He helped the club to win the [2019–20 Segunda División](/source/2019%E2%80%9320_Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n) title thus winning promotion to top flight of Spanish football, [La Liga](/source/La_Liga).

### Aris Thessaloniki

On 18 August 2020, Datković signed a three-year contract with [Aris Thessaloniki](/source/Aris_Thessaloniki_F.C.).[8]

#### Loan to Cartagena

After featuring rarely, Datković returned to Spain and its second division on 10 January 2021, after agreeing to a loan deal with [Cartagena](/source/FC_Cartagena) until the end of [the season](/source/2020%E2%80%9321_Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n).[9]

### Real Salt Lake

On 2 June 2021, Datković signed with [Major League Soccer](/source/Major_League_Soccer) side [Real Salt Lake](/source/Real_Salt_Lake) on a two-year deal.[10] He make his full match debut on 8 August in a 3–2 loss against [Portland Timbers](/source/Portland_Timbers).

### Return to Cartagena

On 18 January 2022, Datković returned to Cartagena after agreeing to a two-and-a-half-year contract.[11]

### Albacete

Datković terminated his contract with the Cartagena on 1 September 2023,[12] and joined fellow second division side [Albacete Balompié](/source/Albacete_Balompi%C3%A9) just hours later.[13] On 29 January 2024, however, he also departed the latter club.[14]

### Lion City Sailors

On 21 February 2024, Datković moved to Southeast Asia to join [Singapore Premier League](/source/Singapore_Premier_League) club [Lion City Sailors](/source/Lion_City_Sailors). On his official debut for the club on 4 May 2024, he helped his club to win the [2024 Singapore Community Shield](/source/Singapore_Community_Shield) in a 2–0 win against [Albirex Niigata (S)](/source/Albirex_Niigata_(S)). Despite [Maxime Lestienne](/source/Maxime_Lestienne)'s equaliser in the 91st minute of the [2025 AFC Champions League Two final](/source/2025_AFC_Champions_League_Two_final) against [Sharjah](/source/Sharjah_FC), the Sailors finished as a runner-up after conceding in the 97th minute to finish the game in a 1–2 defeat.[15]

## International career

Datković made his debut for [Croatia](/source/Croatia_national_football_team) during the [2017 China Cup](/source/2017_China_Cup) match against [China](/source/China_national_football_team) which is his sole international appearance to date.[16]

## Personal life

Datković is the son of the football coach Ivica Datković, his brother [Marin](/source/Marin_Datkovi%C4%87) is also a professional football player.[17]
