'''Thomas White Neill''' (November 7, 1919 – September 22, 1980) was an American professional [baseball](/source/baseball) player and [outfielder](/source/outfielder) who appeared in [Major League Baseball](/source/Major_League_Baseball) in parts of two seasons (1946–1947) with the [Boston Braves](/source/Boston_Braves_(baseball)).  For his [MLB](/source/MLB) career, he compiled a .255 [batting average](/source/batting_average_(baseball)) in 55 [at-bat](/source/at-bat)s, with 14 [hits](/source/hit_(baseball)) (including two [doubles](/source/double_(baseball)) and one [triple](/source/triple_(baseball))) and seven [runs batted in](/source/run_batted_in). Born in [Hartselle, Alabama](/source/Hartselle%2C_Alabama), he batted left-handed, threw right-handed, and was listed as {{convert|6|ft|2|in}} tall and {{convert|200|lb}}.

As a member of the 1946 [Birmingham Barons](/source/Birmingham_Barons), Neill led the [Double-A](/source/Double-A_(baseball)) [Southern Association](/source/Southern_Association) in hits (207), batting average (.374) and runs batted in (124). In 1949 with the [Nashville Volunteers](/source/Nashville_Volunteers) of the same circuit, Neill came in second in the batting race,  finishing with an average of .3460 — just .0004 behind [Pat Haggerty](/source/Pat_Haggerty_(American_football_official)),<ref>[https://books.google.com/books?id=DS2V3x5ZQ3IC&q=Neill&pg=PA22 Baseball in Little Rock]</ref> who later became known as a longtime [National Football League](/source/National_Football_League) referee.

Neill spent 15 years in professional baseball (1938–1943, 1946–1954). He died in [Houston, Texas](/source/Houston%2C_Texas), at the age of 60.
