'''Thomas Webb''' (born 17 April 1989) is an English former [footballer](/source/Association_football) who played as a [forward](/source/forward_(association_football)). He was a product of the [Colchester United](/source/Colchester_United_F.C.) [Academy](/source/Colchester_United_F.C._Under-21s_and_Academy), going on to make one first-team substitute appearance for the club. He has also represented [Folkestone Invicta](/source/Folkestone_Invicta_F.C.), [Halstead Town](/source/Halstead_Town_F.C.), [East Thurrock United](/source/East_Thurrock_United_F.C.) and [AFC Sudbury](/source/A.F.C._Sudbury).

==Career==

Born in [Chelmsford](/source/Chelmsford), Webb joined the [Colchester United](/source/Colchester_United_F.C.) [Academy](/source/Colchester_United_F.C._Under-21s_and_Academy) at the age of 11. He featured regularly in Colchester's senior youth sides prior to his 16th birthday and finished as top scorer in both of his apprenticeship years with the club. His willingness and ability saw him awarded a professional contract in the summer of 2007, signing a deal alongside fellow youth-team products Tom Devaux, [Medy Elito](/source/Medy_Elito) and [Anthony Wordsworth](/source/Anthony_Wordsworth).<ref name="WWCU"/><ref name="CU contract">{{cite web |title=Elito handed Colchester contract |url=https://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/c/colchester_united/6708899.stm |publisher=BBC Sport |access-date=21 July 2013}}</ref>

Webb made his first and only first-team appearance for Colchester during an injury and suspension crisis during their second-ever season in the [Championship](/source/Football_League_Championship), featuring as a substitute at the first-ever competitive fixture at [Shrewsbury Town](/source/Shrewsbury_Town_F.C.)'s [New Meadow](/source/New_Meadow) stadium on 14 August 2007.<ref name="WWCU"/> As the fixture went to [extra time](/source/Overtime_(sports)) and Colchester conceding in the 106th minute, Webb was brought on as a replacement for [defender](/source/Defender_(association_football)) [John White](/source/John_White_(footballer_born_1986)) in the 112th minute as the U's desperately searched for a goal. It wasn't to be a dream debut for Webb as Colchester were defeated 1–0.<ref name="CU debut">{{cite web |title=Colchester United – Match details – Colchester Utd 0–1 Shrewsbury Town |url=http://coludata.co.uk/matchdetails.asp?mid=3335 |publisher=Coludata.co.uk |accessdate=21 July 2013 |url-status=dead |archiveurl=https://archive.today/20130721134923/http://coludata.co.uk/matchdetails.asp?mid=3335 |archivedate=21 July 2013 |df=dmy-all }}</ref>

In February 2008, Webb was sent on loan for one month to [Folkestone Invicta](/source/Folkestone_Invicta_F.C.).<ref name="FI loan">{{cite web |title=Colchester add Bankole as cover|url=https://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/c/colchester_united/7269377.stm |publisher=BBC Sport |access-date=21 July 2013}}</ref> He was then released at the end of the [2007–08 season](/source/2007%E2%80%9308_Colchester_United_F.C._season) as Colchester were relegated from the Championship to [League One](/source/Football_League_One). He was released alongside Tom Devaux, [Danny Granville](/source/Danny_Granville), [Luke Guttridge](/source/Luke_Guttridge) and [Kevin Watson](/source/Kevin_Watson), while [Aidan Davison](/source/Aidan_Davison) and [Teddy Sheringham](/source/Teddy_Sheringham) retired.<ref name="CU exit">{{cite web |title=Colchester's clear-out continues|url=https://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/c/colchester_united/7388435.stm |publisher=BBC Sport |access-date=21 July 2013}}</ref>

Following his release from Colchester, Webb travelled to Spain to join the [Glenn Hoddle Academy](/source/Glenn_Hoddle_Academy), before joining [Harlow Town](/source/Harlow_Town_F.C.). He then signed for [Halstead Town](/source/Halstead_Town_F.C.) prior to the [2009–10 season](/source/2009%E2%80%9310_in_English_football). He signed for [AFC Sudbury](/source/A.F.C._Sudbury) in May 2010, scoring two goals in 21 appearances prior to his release from the club in January 2011. Webb then returned to the club in March 2011, where he remained until the end of the season. Summer 2011 saw Webb depart Sudbury, joining [Tilbury](/source/Tilbury_F.C.), with whom he stayed until the end of the [2011–12 season](/source/2011%E2%80%9312_in_English_football). He once again returned to Sudbury for the beginning of the [2012–13 season](/source/2012%E2%80%9313_in_English_football), but yet again departed to Tilbury in December 2012.<ref name="AFC bio">{{cite web|title=AFC Sudbury – Tom Webb|url=http://www.afcsudbury.com/player-database/tom-webb/|publisher=AFC Sudbury|accessdate=21 July 2013|url-status=usurped|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110909043424/http://www.afcsudbury.com/player-database/tom-webb/|archivedate=9 September 2011|df=dmy-all}}</ref>
