# Tom Nallen

Irish Gaelic footballer

**Tom Nallen** is an Irish former [Gaelic footballer](/source/Gaelic_football) who was captain of the [Crossmolina Deel Rovers](/source/Crossmolina_Deel_Rovers),[1][2] as well as the [Mayo county team](/source/Mayo_county_football_team). Playing as a full-back, Nallen was known as "The Riddler".[3] His brother [James](/source/James_Nallen) and their uncle [John](/source/John_Nallen) also played for Mayo and Crossmolina.[4]

With Mayo he won the [2001 National Football League](/source/2000%E2%80%9301_National_Football_League_(Ireland)) title.[3] In the 2001 [Connacht Senior Football Championship](/source/Connacht_Senior_Football_Championship) Nallen scored a goal in Mayo's game against [Sligo](/source/Sligo_county_football_team).[3]

As his club's [captain](/source/Captain_(Gaelic_games)), Nallen was the first person from a [Mayo GAA](/source/Mayo_GAA) team to raise the [Andy Merrigan Cup](/source/Andy_Merrigan_Cup) after Crossmolina's victory in the [2001 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship](/source/2000%E2%80%9301_All-Ireland_Senior_Club_Football_Championship) final.[5] He had earlier captained his club to the 1999 [Mayo Senior Football Championship](/source/Mayo_Senior_Football_Championship) title.[6] As of 2009, he was still playing for his club while based in Dublin, with Allianz.[3]
