**Thomas Means** (birthdate unknown) was a [Negro leagues](/source/Negro_league_baseball) [pitcher](/source/Pitcher) for several years before the founding of the first [Negro National League](/source/Negro_National_League_(1920-1931)).

Means shows up on teams lists for the [Chicago Unions](/source/Chicago_Unions) and [Chicago Union Giants](/source/Leland_Giants) from 1900 to 1904,[1] and then again in 1908.

He played for at least one season for the [St. Paul Colored Gophers](/source/St._Paul_Colored_Gophers), in 1907.

He played with some popular players of the day, including [Clarence Lytle](/source/Clarence_Lytle), [Home Run Johnson](/source/Home_Run_Johnson), [Mike Moore](/source/Henry_W._Moore), [Johnny Davis](/source/John_Barton_Davis), [William Binga](/source/William_Binga), and [Sherman Barton](/source/Sherman_Barton).
