Huggins is a right-handed [batsman](/source/Batsman_(cricket)) who bowls right-arm [off break](/source/Off_break). He was born in [Peterborough](/source/Peterborough), Cambridgeshire and educated at [Kimbolton School](/source/Kimbolton_School). Huggins made his debut in [List-A cricket](/source/List-A_cricket) for [Cambridgeshire](/source/Cambridgeshire_County_Cricket_Club) against the [Warwickshire Cricket Board](/source/Warwickshire_Cricket_Board) in the 2nd round of the [2002 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy](/source/2002_Cheltenham_%26_Gloucester_Trophy) which was played in 2001. He also played a single [Minor Counties Championship](/source/Minor_Counties_Championship) match for the county against [Staffordshire](/source/Staffordshire_County_Cricket_Club). Huggins made his [first-class](/source/First-class_cricket) debut for [Northamptonshire](/source/Northamptonshire_County_Cricket_Club) against [Cambridge University](/source/Cambridge_University_Cricket_Club) in 2003. His first-class debut for the county came in the 2004 [County Championship](/source/County_Championship) against [Lancashire](/source/Lancashire_County_Cricket_Club). From 2003 to 2005, he represented the county in 11 first-class matches, the last of which came against the touring [Bangladeshis](/source/Bangladesh_national_cricket_team).[1] In his 11 first-class matches he scored 403 runs at a [batting average](/source/Batting_average_(cricket)) of 26.86, with 2 [half centuries](/source/Half_century) and a high score of 82[*](/source/Not_out). In the field he took 4 [catches](/source/Catch_(cricket)).[2] In 2004, he made his Northamptonshire List-A debut against the touring [Essex](/source/Essex_County_Cricket_Club) in the [totesport League](/source/Totesport_League). From 2004 to 2005, he represented the county in 6 List-A matches, the last of which came against [Gloucestershire](/source/Gloucestershire_County_Cricket_Club) in the 2005 totesport League.[3] In the 7 List-A matches he played, he scored 51 runs at an average of 8.50, with a high score of 16. During the [2005 season](/source/2005_English_cricket_season) he made his [Twenty20](/source/Twenty20) debut for the county against Gloucestershire in the [2005 Twenty20 Cup](/source/2005_Twenty20_Cup). During the 2005 Twenty20 Cup he played a further 5 Twenty20 matches, the last of which came against [Warwickshire](/source/Warwickshire_County_Cricket_Club).[4] In his 6 Twenty20 matches, he scored 25 runs at an average of 25.00, with a high score of 19. In the field he took 2 catches.[5] In 2006, he joined [Suffolk](/source/Suffolk_County_Cricket_Club), where he made his Minor Counties Championship debut for the county against [Norfolk](/source/Norfolk_County_Cricket_Club). From 2006 to present, he has represented the county in 28 Championship matches.[6] He has also played [MCCA Knockout Trophy](/source/MCCA_Knockout_Trophy) matches for Suffolk. His debut in that competition for Suffolk came against [Bedfordshire](/source/Bedfordshire_County_Cricket_Club) in the 2006 MCCA Knockout Trophy.
