**Tom Dalgety** is an English record producer and audio engineer.[1][2][3] He is most noted for his work with [Pixies](/source/Pixies_(band)),[4][5] [Ghost](/source/Ghost_(Swedish_band)),[6] and [Royal Blood](/source/Royal_Blood_(band)).[7] He was nominated for [Grammy Awards](/source/Grammy_Award) in 2019 for his production work on the Ghost album *[Prequelle](/source/Prequelle)* ([Best Rock Album](/source/Best_Rock_Album)) and production and songwriting on the Ghost track "[Rats](/source/Rats_(Ghost_song))" ([Best Rock Song](/source/Best_Rock_Song)).[8][9]

## Biography

Dalgety was born in [Oxford, Oxfordshire](/source/Oxford). He grew up in [Frome, Somerset](/source/Frome), and began his career working at [Rockfield Studios](/source/Rockfield_Studios) in Wales.[10]

[Royal Blood](/source/Royal_Blood_(band))'s self-titled [debut album](/source/Royal_Blood_(album)), produced by Dalgety and the band, was released in August 2014. It was nominated for the 2014 [Mercury Prize](/source/Mercury_Prize) for best album. It debuted at number one on the [UK Albums Chart](/source/UK_Albums_Chart) and went on to become certified as a platinum selling record ([BPI](/source/British_Phonographic_Industry)).[11] Dalgety also worked with the band on their second album *[How Did We Get So Dark?](/source/How_Did_We_Get_So_Dark%3F)*, which also went straight in at the top of the [UK Albums Chart](/source/UK_Albums_Chart).[12]

In 2015, Dalgety won "Breakthrough Producer of the Year" at the UK's Music Producers Guild (MPG) Awards.[13]

In 2016, he was nominated for "British Producer of the Year" at the [BRIT awards](/source/Brit_Awards) for his work on [Royal Blood](/source/Royal_Blood_(band))'s debut self titled album.[14]

In 2016, Dalgety produced the *[Popestar](/source/Popestar)* EP for [Ghost](/source/Ghost_(Swedish_band)), which went to number 1 in the [*Billboard* Rock Album chart](/source/Billboard_charts).[15]

In January 2017, the single "[Square Hammer](/source/Square_Hammer)" taken from the EP subsequently went to number 1 on *Billboard*′s Mainstream Rock Song Chart.[16] And in February 2017 Ghost were awarded a Swedish [Grammis](/source/Grammis) Award with the *Popestar* EP winning the best Best Hard Rock/Metal album category.[17]

Dalgety was nominated for "UK Producer of the Year" for the second time by the Music Producers Guild (MPG) Awards 2018.[18] In late 2018, Dalgety was nominated for the [60th Annual Grammy Awards](/source/60th_Annual_Grammy_Awards) for his production work on the [Ghost](/source/Ghost_(Swedish_band)) album *[Prequelle](/source/Prequelle)* - nominated for [Best Rock Album](/source/Best_Rock_Album) and his production and songwriting on the [Ghost](/source/Ghost_(Swedish_band)) track "[Rats](/source/Rats_(Ghost_song))" - nominated for [Best Rock Song](/source/Best_Rock_Song).[9]
