'''Tollerton''' is a former village in [central Alberta](/source/central_Alberta), Canada within [Yellowhead County](/source/Yellowhead_County). It was located on the former [Canadian Northern Railway](/source/Canadian_Northern_Railway) along the north shore of the [McLeod River](/source/McLeod_River),<ref name=townsite>{{cite web | url=http://railways.library.ualberta.ca/Maps-8-1-3/ | publisher=University of Alberta Press | title=Atlas of Alberta Railways – Canadian Northern Tollerton Townsite | year=2005 | accessdate=2011-07-06}}</ref> approximately {{convert|6.0|km|mi|abbr=on}} southwest of the Town of [Edson](/source/Edson%2C_Alberta).

== History ==
Tollerton was established as a division point along the Canadian Northern Railway. Its rail facilities included a train station, a timber water tank, an ice house, a bunk house, a steam-heated engine house, and three rail sidings with capacity to hold 249 cars.<ref name=divpoints>{{cite web | url=http://railways.library.ualberta.ca/Charts-10-1-1/ | publisher=University of Alberta Press | title=Atlas of Alberta Railways – Summary of Facilities at Division Points, Canadian National Railways | year=2005 | accessdate=2011-07-06}}</ref>

The community incorporated as the Village of Tollerton on December 27, 1913.<ref>{{Cite news |date=December 27, 1913 |title=Erection of Village |url=https://digitalcollections.ucalgary.ca/asset-management/2R3BF1FXN6BWC |work=Alberta Gazette |location=Edmonton |page=35 |publication-date=January 15, 1914 |via=[University of Calgary](/source/University_of_Calgary) |volume=10 |issue=1, Part 1}}</ref> In 1917, a decision was made to close the Canadian Northern Railway line in favour of the [Grand Trunk Pacific Railway](/source/Grand_Trunk_Pacific_Railway) through Edson to the north, resulting in the demise of Tollerton.<ref name=divpoints/> Subsequently, the community dissolved from village status on January 26, 1918.
