In February 2024, [Ireland cricket team](/source/Ireland_national_cricket_team) was scheduled to play a Test match at the neighbouring [Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium](/source/Sheikh_Zayed_Cricket_Stadium) [against Afghanistan](/source/Irish_cricket_team_against_Afghanistan_in_the_UAE_in_2023%E2%80%9324).
