**Albert 'Toks' van der Linde**(born 30 December 1969) is a former South African [rugby union](/source/Rugby_union) player.[1]

## Playing career

Van der Linde went to school in [Senekal](/source/Senekal) in the [Free State](/source/Free_State_(province)) and represented [Eastern Free State](/source/Griffons_(rugby_union)) at the annual [Craven Week](/source/Craven_Week) tournament in 1986 and 1987. After finishing school, he attended the [University of the Free State](/source/University_of_the_Free_State) and made his provincial debut for [Free State](/source/Cheetahs_(rugby_union)) in 1992.[2] Van der Linde also played for [Natal](/source/Sharks_(rugby_union)) and then moved to [Western Province](/source/Stormers), for which he played 133 games.

Van der Linde made his [test match](/source/Test_match_(rugby_union)) debut for the [Springboks](/source/Springboks) against [Italy](/source/Italy_national_rugby_union_team) on 12 November 1995 at the [Stadio Olimpico](/source/Stadio_Olimpico) in [Rome](/source/Rome). In 1996 he toured with the Springboks to [Argentina, France and Wales](/source/1996_South_Africa_rugby_union_tour_of_Argentina_and_Europe) and played in four of the five test matches, each time as a replacement. His next and final test match was five years later against [France](/source/France_national_rugby_union_team) in Paris. He also played in eleven tour matches, scoring two tries for the Springboks.[3]

## Later career

After retiring, van der Linde worked as rugby commentator and television show host. In 2011 he, together with [Breyton Paulse](/source/Breyton_Paulse) and Janina Oberholzer, became presenters of Toks & Tjops, an informal chat show, on the South African [Afrikaans-language](/source/Afrikaans) television channel, [kykNET](/source/KykNET) where sporting events are discussed.[4]
