## Career

Boatwright graduated from the [University of North Texas](/source/University_of_North_Texas) with a degree in radio, Television, and Film,[when?] and during his studies he was an intern at [KDFW](/source/KDFW) in [Dallas](/source/Dallas). His first appearance on TV as an anchor and reporter was at [KAVU](/source/KAVU-TV) in [Victoria, Texas](/source/Victoria,_Texas).[when?] After 15 months he moved to [KETK-TV](/source/KETK-TV) in Tyler, where he spent five years as the [Longview](/source/Longview,_Texas) bureau chief and reporter. In 2000, Boatwright reported on the [Republican](/source/2000_Republican_National_Convention) and [Democratic](/source/2000_Democratic_National_Convention) Conventions.
