# Tobin Armbrust

**Tobin A. Armbrust** (born 1971)[1] is an American [film producer](/source/Film_producer) who works for Exclusive Media, a film production and distribution company. The films he has produced include *[Firewall](/source/Firewall_(film))* (2006), *[Let Me In](/source/Let_Me_In_(film))* (2010), *[The Woman in Black](/source/The_Woman_in_Black_(2012_film))* (2012), *[End of Watch](/source/End_of_Watch)* (2012), *[Rush](/source/Rush_(2013_film))* (2013), *[Begin Again](/source/Begin_Again_(film))* (2013), and *[Dark Places](/source/Dark_Places_(2014_film))* (2014).

## Career

After completing a bachelor's degree in political science at the [University of California, Santa Barbara](/source/University_of_California,_Santa_Barbara),[2] Armbrust entered the film industry by working as a head of acquisitions at several distribution companies, including the French [Canal+ Group](/source/Canal%2B_Group) and the Japanese [Pony Canyon](/source/Pony_Canyon).[3]

He then worked at [Intermedia](/source/Intermedia_(production_company)) for seven years as Vice President of business development and production; he was also a producer for [Warner Bros.](/source/Warner_Bros.), where he oversaw the development of over 30 films and served as a co-producer of the 2006 thriller film *[Firewall](/source/Firewall_(film))*.[3] He also ran [Thunder Road Pictures](/source/Thunder_Road_Pictures) with Basil Iwanyk until March 2006, when Spitfire Pictures hired him as a co-head of production.[1][3]

In 2008, he joined Exclusive Media, a British film production and distribution company founded the same year by Guy East and [Nigel Sinclair](/source/Nigel_Sinclair), with whom Armbrust had worked at Intermedia. The first films whose production he oversaw at Exclusive Media were *[The Woman in Black](/source/The_Woman_in_Black_(2012_film))* and *[End of Watch](/source/End_of_Watch)*, both of which were released in 2012 to financial success, followed by the 2013 releases, *[Parkland](/source/Parkland_(film))* and *[Rush](/source/Rush_(2013_film))*, which performed poorly at the North American box office.[1]

As a producer of *[Let Me In](/source/Let_Me_In_(film))* (2010), he and the film's other producers received a nomination for Best Feature at the [Gotham Independent Film Awards](/source/Gotham_Independent_Film_Awards_2010).[4]

With Exclusive Media, he produced *[Begin Again](/source/Begin_Again_(film))* (2013), *[The Quiet Ones](/source/The_Quiet_Ones_(2014_film))* (2014), *[A Walk Among the Tombstones](/source/A_Walk_Among_the_Tombstones_(film))* (2014), and *[Dark Places](/source/Dark_Places_(2014_film))* (2014). As of 2014, Armbrust serves as the Exclusive Media's President of Worldwide Production and Acquisitions.[3]

## Personal life
