'''''Title Shot''''' is a Canadian crime drama film, directed by [Les Rose](/source/Les_Rose) and released in 1979.<ref name=pratley>[Gerald Pratley](/source/Gerald_Pratley), ''A Century of Canadian Cinema''. Lynx Images, 2003. {{ISBN|1-894073-21-5}}. p. 219.</ref> Rose's second collaboration with writer and actor [Richard Gabourie](/source/Richard_Gabourie) following 1978's ''[Three Card Monte](/source/Three_Card_Monte_(film))''.

The cast also includes [Susan Hogan](/source/Susan_Hogan_(actress)), [Allan Royal](/source/Allan_Royal), [Jack Duffy](/source/Jack_Duffy), [Sean McCann](/source/Sean_McCann_(actor)), [Taborah Johnson](/source/Taborah_Johnson), [Michael Wincott](/source/Michael_Wincott), [Michael Hogan](/source/Michael_Hogan_(Canadian_actor)) and [Reiner Schwarz](/source/Reiner_Schwarz) in supporting roles.

The film premiered at the [1979 Festival of Festivals](/source/1979_Toronto_International_Film_Festival).<ref name=scott/>

==Plot==

==Critical response==
The film was more poorly received by critics than ''Three Card Monte''.

[Jay Scott](/source/Jay_Scott) of ''[The Globe and Mail](/source/The_Globe_and_Mail)'' wrote that "by the time the climax has rolled around, there have been a number of good performances ([Susan Hogan](/source/Susan_Hogan_(actress)), [Jack Duffy](/source/Jack_Duffy), [Taborah Johnson](/source/Taborah_Johnson), [Sean McCann](/source/Sean_McCann_(actor))) and many demonstrations of first-rate composition, rhythm and editing. But there have also been continuity and emphasis miscalculations — a strike at Curtis' bakery is introduced and then dropped, and the movie rushes by Curtis' fate (he's flamboyantly sleazy enough to care about) in favour of letting Gabourie twinkle his way into a big-star farewell. It took years for [Jack Nicholson](/source/Jack_Nicholson) to reach the audience-patting excess of ''[Goin' South](/source/Goin'_South)''; Gabourie has turned into the actor's version of a used car salesman after two movies."<ref name=scott>[Jay Scott](/source/Jay_Scott), "Title Shot misses both of its targets". ''[The Globe and Mail](/source/The_Globe_and_Mail)'', September 11, 1979.</ref>

In his 2003 book ''A Century of Canadian Cinema'', [Gerald Pratley](/source/Gerald_Pratley) described the film as disappointing, boring and filled with unlikable characters.<ref name=pratley/>
