Ancient Titane was part of the city-state of [Sicyon](/source/Sicyon). It is named after [Titan](/source/Titan_(mythology)), a brother of [Helios](/source/Helios). The city had a temple of [Asclepius](/source/Asclepius), built by [Alexanor](/source/Alexanor), a grandson of Asclepius. There were also a temple of [Athena](/source/Athena), and an altar of the [Winds](/source/Anemoi).<ref>[Pausanias](/source/Pausanias_(geographer)) ''Description of Greece'' 2.11, 2.12</ref> The acropolis of the ancient city has been excavated.<ref name=ebsa/>
