The '''Timor oriole''' ('''''Oriolus melanotis''''') is a species of [bird](/source/bird) in the family [Oriolidae](/source/Oriolidae). It is [endemic](/source/endemic) to the [Lesser Sunda Islands](/source/Lesser_Sunda_Islands), where it is found on [Timor](/source/Timor), [Rote](/source/Rote_Island) and [Semau](/source/Semau). Its natural [habitat](/source/habitat)s are subtropical or tropical dry [forest](/source/forest)s and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests.

==Taxonomy and systematics==
The [Wetar oriole](/source/Wetar_oriole) (''O. finschi''), found on [Wetar](/source/Wetar) and [Atauro](/source/Atauro_Island) Islands, was originally described as a separate species but was later reclassified as a subspecies. However, more recent revisions to the [IOC World Bird List](/source/IOC_World_Bird_List) have found it to be a distinct species.
