# Timocleidas

Ancient Greek tyrant

**Timocleidas** ([Greek](/source/Greek_language): Τιμοκλείδας) was a [tyrant](/source/Tyrant) of the [ancient Greek](/source/Ancient_Greece) [city-state](/source/City-state) of [Sicyon](/source/Sicyon) in the 3rd century BC. After the violent death of the previous tyrant [Cleon](/source/Cleon_of_Sicyon), he ruled jointly with [Euthydemus](/source/Euthydemus_(tyrant)), until the two were deposed by the citizens of Sicyon. Timocleidas and Euthydemus were replaced by the democrat [Cleinias](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cleinias_(Sicyon)&action=edit&redlink=1), although the [historian](/source/Historian) [Plutarch](/source/Plutarch) believed that Timocleidas ruled jointly with Cleinias. Timocleidas died during Cleinias's reign.
