**Timir Alekseevich Pinegin** ([Russian](/source/Russian_language): Тимир Алексеевич Пинегин; 12 June 1927 – 31 January 2013) was a Russian [sailor](/source/Sailing_(sport)) who competed for the [Soviet Union](/source/Soviet_Union) in the [1956 Summer Olympics](/source/1956_Summer_Olympics), in the [1960 Summer Olympics](/source/1960_Summer_Olympics), in the [1964 Summer Olympics](/source/1964_Summer_Olympics), in the [1968 Summer Olympics](/source/1968_Summer_Olympics), and in the [1972 Summer Olympics](/source/1972_Summer_Olympics).[1][2]

Pinegin was born in [Moscow](/source/Moscow). In 1956 he finished eighth as [helmsman](/source/Helmsman) of the Soviet boat *Tulilind* (lit. [Firebird](/source/Firebird_(Slavic_folklore)) in [Estonian](/source/Estonian_language)) in the [Star class competition](/source/Sailing_at_the_1956_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Star).

Four years later he won the gold medal as [helmsman](/source/Helmsman) of the Soviet boat *Tornado* in the [Star class event](/source/Sailing_at_the_1960_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Star).

In 1964 he finished fifth in the [Star class competition](/source/Sailing_at_the_1964_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Star), 1968 he finished 16th in the [Star class event](/source/Sailing_at_the_1968_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Star). At all four Olympics from 1956 to 1968 he competed with his partner [Fyodor Shutkov](/source/Fyodor_Shutkov).

In 1972 he competed in the [Soling class competition](/source/Sailing_at_the_1972_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Soling) and finished seventh.
