==Football career==
Womack was born in [Denaby](/source/Denaby), near [Doncaster](/source/Doncaster) and played his early football with [Denaby United](/source/Denaby_United_F.C.) before turning professional with [Derby County](/source/Derby_County_F.C.) in October 1957. He spent two years with the [Baseball Ground](/source/Baseball_Ground) club, but only made two appearances in the [Football League Second Division](/source/Football_League_Second_Division).<ref name = "Hugman">{{cite book |last=Hugman |first=Barry |title=Football League Players Records (1946–1981) |year=1981 |publisher=Rothmans Publications |location=Aylesbury |isbn=0-907574-08-4|page=360}}</ref>

In May 1959, he moved to the south coast to join [Southampton](/source/Southampton_F.C.) of the [Third Division](/source/Football_League_Third_Division). With [John Sydenham](/source/John_Sydenham) established in the outside-left position, Womack was unable to break into the first team and spent his year at [The Dell](/source/The_Dell_(Southampton)) in the reserves, where he made 20 appearances, scoring three goals.<ref>{{cite book| title=In That Number – A post-war chronicle of Southampton FC |last= Holley |first= Duncan |last2= Chalk|first2= Gary | publisher=Hagiology Publishing | year=2003 | isbn=0-9534474-3-X|pages=442–443}}</ref> The "Saints" ended [the season](/source/1959%E2%80%9360_in_English_football) as champions, but shortly afterwards Womack was released.

==Death==
Womack died on 8 November 2010 at his home in [Barnby Dun](/source/Barnby_Dun), near Doncaster, aged 76 years.
