On 20 January 1992, Webster launched Australia's first regular weeknight 5:00&nbsp;pm newscast, reuniting with Katrina Lee to co-present Sydney's ''Ten Eyewitness News First at Five''.{{Citation needed|date=March 2010}}

Webster covered various major sporting events for [Network 10](/source/Network_10), including the [Melbourne Cup](/source/Melbourne_Cup), [Olympic Games](/source/Olympic_Games), [Commonwealth Games](/source/Commonwealth_Games) and Australasian golf tour. In 2005, Webster became the co-presenter of [Perth](/source/Perth)'s ''[Ten News at Five](/source/10_News_First)'', alongside [Charmaine Dragun](/source/Charmaine_Dragun), while continuing as the sports presenter on the Sydney bulletin. In early 2011, Webster presented sport alongside [Sandra Sully](/source/Sandra_Sully) on Sydney's short-lived ''[Ten Evening News](/source/10_News_First)''. After that bulletin was axed, and replaced by ''[6.30 with George Negus](/source/6.30_with_George_Negus)'' (which moved from its original 6:00&nbsp;pm timeslot) on 4 April 2011, Webster acted as a fill-in presenter for ''[Ten News at Five](/source/10_News_First)'' and other national bulletins.

In June 2008, Webster joined radio station [2UE](/source/2UE) as fill-in newsreader and sports presenter.<ref name=":1" /> He replaced [Steve Price](/source/Steve_Price_(broadcaster)) who moved to [John Laws](/source/John_Laws)' former timeslot.
