==The Tim Ware Group==
Tim Ware came to prominence with the release, in 1980, of [https://timware.com/music-works/the-tim-ware-group-v1/ ''The Tim Ware Group''] on Kaleidoscope Records. [https://timware.com/music-works/the-tim-ware-group-v1/ The Tim Ware Group], working with a number of other talented [San Francisco Bay Area](/source/San_Francisco_Bay_Area) musicians, helped define the emerging genre of [New Acoustic Music](/source/New_Acoustic_Music).<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://timware.com/music-works/the-tim-ware-group-v1/|title=Tim Ware Group v1 – Tim Ware}}</ref> The band featured Tim, who also composed all the music, on [mandolin](/source/mandolin) and [guitar](/source/guitar), Bob Alekno on guitar and mandolin, John Tenney on [violin](/source/violin), Sharon O'Connor on [cello](/source/cello) and Kenneth Miller on [acoustic bass](/source/Double_bass). The album also featured [David Grisman](/source/David_Grisman), [Darol Anger](/source/Darol_Anger) and [Mike Marshall](/source/Mike_Marshall_(musician)) on the mandolin quartet piece "Spiral Moons" (which [Rosanne Cash](/source/Rosanne_Cash) cited as one of her favorite tunes in a [Down Beat](/source/Down_Beat) magazine article from that period). In the spring of 1980, "Spiral Moons" had its world premiere at the [Great American Music Hall](/source/Great_American_Music_Hall) in San Francisco, performed by Tim, Darol, Mike, and [Mark O'Connor](/source/Mark_O'Connor), and a few months later, this same quartet reprised that performance at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center in [Santa Cruz, California](/source/Santa_Cruz%2C_California). The album photography was done by former ''[Rolling Stone](/source/Rolling_Stone)'' chief photographer [Baron Wolman](/source/Baron_Wolman).

Although the Tim Ware Group, in the mandolin-based edition, disbanded in 1985, the music generates interest to this day (Tim was featured as Artist of the Week <ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.mandozine.com/media/CGOW/timware.html|title=Tim Ware: CoMando Guest of the Week|website=www.mandozine.com}}</ref> on the [http://www.mandozine.com/media/CGOW/timware.html Mandozine website].). The band toured and recorded and disbanded in 1995.

In 1992, Tim composed "Los Surf" for inclusion on the debut album by Teisco Del Rey (aka Dan Forte), "The Many Moods of Teisco Del Rey." And in 1996, Tim reimagined "The Theme From [Lawrence of Arabia](/source/Lawrence_of_Arabia_(film))" as a classic [https://soundcloud.com/timware-1/theme-from-lawrence-of-arabia surf music epic], which was featured on Teisco's second release, "Teisco Del Rey Plays Music For Lovers."
