# Tim McCreanor

**Tim McCreanor** is a New Zealand-based researcher and commentator in [public health](/source/Public_health).[1] Themes in his work include [racial discrimination](/source/Racial_discrimination), the wellbeing and health of young people, and representations in various forms of media.[2] McCreanor is widely published in books, academic articles and reports. Often McCreanors' work is about decolonisation which he writes about from a [Pākehā](/source/P%C4%81keh%C4%81) (white New Zealanders) point of view.[3]

McCreanor completed a PHD at the University of Auckland in 1995, the title is *Pakeha discourses of Maori/Pakeha relations.*[4] He has worked at the [University of Auckland](/source/University_of_Auckland) and is a professor within the College of Health at the SHORE and Whariki Research Centre at [Massey University](/source/Massey_University).[5] As a commentator McCreanor has been published in *[The Conversation](/source/The_Conversation_(website)),* [Newsroom](/source/Newsroom_(website)) and presenter at conferences *Te Tiriti-based Futures and Anti-racism* and *The New Zealand Pschychological Society Annual Conference* 2009.[6][7][8] He was co-editor of the book *New Zealand Identities: Departures and Destinations* (2005) alongside [Tracey McIntosh](/source/Tracey_McIntosh), [James H Liu](/source/James_T._C._Liu) and [Teresia Teaiwa](/source/Teresia_Teaiwa).[9]
